Allay.

Fresh souls from dying men are severed in half using profane dark magic, the malevolent and destructive components of the soul producing a Vex and the constructive and benevolent components of the soul producing an Allay. Allay are kept as pets or lab rats by the illagers, or they are warped into vex, though these are more unstable than normal ones.

Vexes and Allays

Ancient forest dwellers, probably existing since the Pioneers era. Many Allays live in the dense forests, hiding from the gaze of travelers. However, when meeting them, fairies do not show hostility, due to the fact that they rarely encountered the cruelty of other people's intentions. That's why they become a really easy target for traders and hunters

Vexes are the fairies of the Dark Forest. As with Illagers, The Dark Forest changed fairies in its own way. For their unceasing passion for hunting and fighting Evokers use them in battle mostly

The matriarch is the ruler of the end layer. She reincarnates every time she is killed as long as the egg stays in the end.

The vex itself is a curse that can affect anyone and anything.

Anybody infected with the curse is just called a Vex unless they get a nickname that sticks. The ravagers were previously also known as Vex but were renamed for their strenght and bloodthirst in battle.

The Allay are the one being that gets cursed by the vex the most as they are very useful to the Illagers.

Allay that are immune to the curse get turned into totems of undying.

"Cub, please, go rescue the Allays, please, we can't let them stay there, they're so distressed!"

Scar's voice was also distressed, but Cub hadn't needed to hear him to understand. It had been a long time since Cub felt that deep Vex rage well up inside him, and it was both strange and also familiar. At least he knew why he felt that way.

"I'll get them, don't worry. He's not still there, is he? He's gone to do other things?"

"He's not there, no. Just, hurry. They're so scared! We gotta get them outta there!"

"Alright, leave it with me."

Jevin was easily distracted, it's fair to say, and in his Vex form, Cub was able to sneak into the place where he'd kept the allays with ease. He could feel their distress as he got close, and they flew to him once he broke in, clinging to him in fear.

"Don't worry, we'll get you out of here. You'll be safe with us. The Vex will avenge you," Cub murmured, giving as much comfort as he could.

There were small sad trilling sounds coming from the Allays. Cub could see the scars on their bodies where they'd caught Jevin's sword but had somehow survived. Cub wasted no more time in whisking them away to his base, hoping he could find a way to calm them down a little. He wouldn't defeat their trauma, of course, but that wasn't the point. At least he could give them sanctuary.

A lot of people assume Allays and Vex are enemies. That Vex corrupt Allays into Vexes. But this isn't true. Vexes are the rage Allays can't express. When Allays seek revenge, it is deep indeed, and handed over to the Vex, who can act in ways they simply cannot. And when the rage is over, the Vex are becalmed by the sweet song of the Allays, both comforted by their own presence. That is why Allays reside in mansions and pillager camps. Anywhere the Vex are, so too are the Allays.

"Cub, I've left a creeper in Jevin's house! That'll sort him out!" Scar said as he arrived at Cub's base later on. He wasn't surprised to see Cub still in his Vex form. "I named it CatDog! That'll teach him to kill Allays!"

"Very good, very good. It's certainly a start, that's for sure. I think we can find other ways to torment him, though, as the season progresses. These poor Allays, man, you gotta come see them. They've got scars, it's awful," Cub said.

Scar gasped. "Scars! Oh no! How dare he! Come on, show me where they are, I gotta look after them!"

Cub led him down into the basement of his house and flicked a switch. It opened a hidden door that led to a staircase going down.

"They're down here. They wanted to be far, far away, so I dug a hole at bedrock, and that seemed to suffice. They were sleeping last I checked," Cub said.

"Good, I'm glad they're resting. They'll be okay, won't they?" Scar said.

"I hope so, but you never know with traumatised Allays. Sometimes it's just too much. But I'm hoping we can give them enough of an outlet so they feel okay again."

It was, of course, a long way down. There was some soft conversation, but both Cub and Scar felt their anxiety and rage grow the closer they got. Part of it was empathetic; they were both feeling that way anyway, but part of it was coming from the Allays as well. Eventually, they arrived at a room, with a door closing it off. The soft sounds of Allays could be heard from within, their songs still very soft and mournful.

"Just be quiet and gentle, they're really on edge," Cub murmured as he opened the door as slowly and carefully as he could.

Scar nodded and followed him in. The room was small and confined, the two Allays sleeping under a blanket on a pillow in one corner. A soul lantern in one corner offered a little light, enough to see how much dimmer the Allays were. Cub sat down beside the Allays, watching over them.

"Just sit and be quiet. They like knowing we're here. I promised we'd get revenge for them. If you want to Vex yourself up a little, I'm sure they won't mind that either," Cub said, keeping his voice low.

Scar grabbed a spare pillow and sat down. He closed his eyes a little and let his Vex features come through a little bit. Vex magic always felt more powerful when he was in Vex form. "We'll avenge them alright, don't you worry about that, little Allays. I'm still so angry! Gods. I'm a zookeeper! How dare he just kill Allays like that!"

Cub shushed him. "There's a time and a place for anger, and right now isn't it." He reached down and gently touched the Allays, who opened their eyes and sat up a little. "The Vex are here, little ones. We'll protect you. We'll avenge you."

The two Allays made soft little cries before allowing Cub and Scar to hold them. Cub held his close to his chest, offering a little Vex magic to comfort the poor creature. Scar wrapped his in a blanket and cradled them in his arms. The rage was building, and for an Allay to feel rage, well, something very bad had definitely happened to cause it.

"This is just like the one I rescued last season. The one Zed got to kill him by holding thorns armour. Man, that Allay was messed up," Cub murmured.

"I did hear about that one. I hope they're okay now."

"It took a long time, but we got there. And these guys'll get there too. And if that means we get to have a little fun along the way, well. So be it."

"So be it. Long live the Vex."

"Long live the ConVex."

Allays are originally native to dense forests, where they lived in big peaceful communities. They are friendly and curious creatures by nature, approaching and interacting with the humans they encounter. They have a strong sense for organisation, collecting objects around them and separating them into distinct piles. This makes it so their societies are very well structured, with each Allay having their role and responsibility. However the majority of these creatures' natural societies have gone completely extinct due to the actions of Pillagers. They capture wild Allays to force them to transport and organise supplies or do cruel experiments on them to transform them into Vexes. Vexes, unlike Allays, are chaotic and aggressive, removed from their sense of community and obeying only their masters. When enraged, their bodies heat up and their faces become red, brutally attacking anything in their path and being able to become incorporeal temporarily to reach enemies behind obstacles. Efforts are being made to restore the native communities of these creatures and transform Vexes back to Allays, but progress has been slower than expected.

Headcanon 19

It doesn't matter how many times Cub and Scar protest, the Hermits still mistreat allays on Hermitcraft, particularly after the new update when hurting them can be used for easy xp. So they decided to do stuff about it.

Every single allay-powered farm on the server has been noted, and every time they're used Cub and/or Scar rescues allays from them, brings them to a safe room they transformed into an allay haven where they're given calming music, cookies, cake, and healing. Doc particularly has gone to Xisuma several times to complain about this, and the effort it takes to find new allays. And Xisuma never does anything to stop them.

Sometimes Cub and Scar use the allay room instead of their own safe-rooms when they need to calm down, as allays naturally calm Vexlings's, and Vex's nerves.

Golems And Summons

Golem: "a construct made with soul source."

Golems are made of a small source of soul and constructed in a physical body of varying material. Being embued with soul, the golem in question is given the ability to think, to feel.

The more soul a golem is given, the more it's able to communicate, adapt, and thrive. for example if a golem is not given enough soul source, it will act akin to a child, while a golem with a high amount of soul source, it will be connected to the soul it imbues, taking on traits and even a voice if it lives long enough.

On unfortunate but bittersweet circumstances, a golem may lose it's creator, but will grow and in turn embody the creator in personality. and may even take on a nomadic life, living as another being in the according dimension. it will make a name, a life, find love, but will never die. it cannot die, for it is not alive to begin with.

Beings of Unlimited Power but Limited Choices.

Such beings are a marvel to see in the wild, like an bluff or a breeze, but to see a summon appear infront of your eyes can be a whole new form of experience. depending on the element you wish for your summon to embody, it will await one command, and it will never stray of it's path.

Allays are one of the only summons that have no known creator, ledgend says that they were made by the hosts themselves, to inspire and give hope to all who see their visage. Though in a mysterious form of spite, the spell that the Umevande made was to go against the very nature of the allay, becoming a vessel of discord and destruction known as a Vex.

Vexes and Allays are tricky in nature, but one seeks to do more harm then good.. on the behalf of the vex's summoner.

Allays, Vex, and Love

Where do allays get their energy? They can regenerate themselves, unaided, faster than any other creature in Minecraft (except maybe the Wither but it has its own methods). That's because they get their energy from the Universe itself, directly. And the universe loves, and is love, and that makes allays beings of love. They play, they dance, they live to help out others, they are the physical embrace of the world and more.

An allay becomes a vex when its deep, existential connection to the loving universe is broken - usually through magic, as the emotional magnitude that an experience would have to have to naturally corrupt an allay would be unthinkably immense. Disconnected from the universe, a vex is also disconnected from the concept of "matter", and will pass through most things it tries to touch. And without the lifeblood of the universe flowing through them, vex lose energy quickly and die if no other being is willing to keep them alive.

Evoker magic can keep vex alive until they're needed; it's the same artificial life energy that explodes out of totems of undying. But evokers are also the ones who corrupted the vex in the first place, so they don't have a vested interest in giving these spirits a good life. Mostly they keep vex locked in stasis until ordered to attack, at which point the vex fend for themselves and then die.

Since I've tagged this with the Minecraft tags, and the next part of this theory connects it to some mcyt stuff, I'll put it under the cut - it works as a general concept, but it's only supported by mcyt lore, and I know that's not always what the lovely people in the regular minecraft tags like to see.

There is another way a vex can use another creature to live longer. With their ability to phase through matter... they can also phase through living beings, and touch their souls. A clever vex could get close enough to touch a living soul, assume a little control, and - more importantly - live off the energy it provides. And if that soul is a Player soul, then it has plenty of universal love to spare. The intrusion won't go unnoticed... but if kindness is given, the vex is fed, and the vex will stay.

Over time, a vex who lives off of a Player soul will start to become indistinguishable from that soul. Its entire self will effectively merge completely with the Player it chose, with no particular place where one being ends and the other begins. They're one and the same. This is why the ConVex went from having the occasional intrusion of vex upon their lives, to fully living and cooperating with them as concepts, and why by season 6 they weren't just "under control" of the vex, or working for them. The ConVex are vex now. Human* too, but also fully vex.

allay x vex. two ends of the fairy spectrum, cutesy little angel and bloodthirsty monster, and yet somehow they click together like puzzle pieces. it's lowkey very toxic at first but they learn and grow together.
